Table of content

One of the questions we get asked the most is how someone can get a smart home system installed in their home. With such complex technology, some believe the process must be equally complex. But in reality, it's really quite simple.

In this blog article, we'll lay out the steps of how our clients go about getting a smart home system installed.

Free Consultation

Let's say you called Phantom wanting to know more about smart home automation. After a brief conversation, we would schedule a time to visit to your home.

At that visit, we'll answer your questions and learn what you're hoping to get out of a smart home system. You may want it for control over your window shades, lighting, security system, or your whole home audio system.

We'll also find out what devices you already have that could be part of the system, and what we may need to add based on your needs. After that consultation, we'll start building the system on paper. Before we leave your home, we will set a review call time and date with you to review the proposal.

Proposal Review

It usually only takes a day or 2 to put the system together on paper and generate a proposal.

Of course, nothing is etched in stone. If you are working within a set budget, we will work within that.

After the review call is concluded and the proposal is accepted, our operations team will schedule an installation date and a start time with you.

Installation

On the day of the installation, our team will show up a few minutes early and prepare what they need outside of your home. At the start time we agreed upon, we'll be knocking at your door ready to begin.

How Long Does the Installation Take?

Many smart home installations take a day. However, there are times when it may take longer. The length of an installation varies and we will leave you with a general idea of the time frame during the proposal process.

Making You Feel Comfortable

We recognize that coming into your home can be an inconvenience and make you feel uncomfortable. That's why we go out of our way to treat you and your property with incredible respect and care, communicate clearly, and educate effectively. Our Installation Team members are professionals. They are used to working with homeowners. They recognize that coming into your home can be an inconvenience. They will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable.

Testing

Once we have all of your devices installed and added to the system, we will test to be sure they are working properly. Testing takes place during installation. If any anomalies pop up during the tests, we'll correct them then and there.

Homeowner Education

Once the system is up and running correctly, we will show you and whoever else you'd like, how to operate the smart home system. We will even set "scenes" according to your desires while we are there. Our goal is to make sure you are comfortable with this technology.
